Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed confidence that, with her extensive experience in various important positions within the US political system, Ambassador Wicks would build on the achievements of her predecessors and contribute to further deepening the Viet Nam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a substantive and comprehensive manner, for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace, prosperity and security in the region and the world.
Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the Ambassador and the US Embassy in Viet Nam strengthen contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, make effective use of existing dialogue mechanisms, and promote the completion of negotiations and signing of the reciprocal trade agreement, along with other important bilateral issues of mutual interest.
Regarding specialised cooperation, General Luong Tam Quang hoped that the US Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge to deepen practical cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and US law enforcement agencies in the fields of security and crime prevention and control. He also called for effective coordination in training programmes aimed at enhancing the professional expertise and foreign-language proficiency of personnel from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
Ambassador Jennifer Wicks expressed her honour at assuming the post of US Ambassador to Viet Nam at a time when bilateral relations are witnessing strong momentum. She affirmed that the US stands ready to work closely with the Ministry of Public Security and other relevant Vietnamese agencies to effectively address areas of cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
