Vietnam considers WB top development partner: Deputy PM

Vietnam considers the World Bank a top development partner, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said in his reception for Country Director for WB Vietnam Carolyn Turk in Hanoi on April 4.

Quang appreciated the WB’s support for Vietnam through preferential loans amounting to 25 billion USD so far along with technical assistance and policy consultancy, which positively contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development since 1993 to now.

He also appreciated the role of Turk as Country Director in securing major programmes and projects funded by the WB which helped create growth impetus for Vietnam’s localities.

Deputy PM Quang expressed a hope for further development of the Vietnam-WB partnership in the future, and affirmed that Vietnam’s ministries and sectors will actively coordinate with the WB in building the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for 2023-2027.

For her part, Turk affirmed that the WB will continue to accompany the Vietnamese Government in the next phase of development, work with Vietnam in building the Vietnam 2045 report, and help Vietnam realise its development goals.
