The event, hosted by Hai Phong city People’s Committee and the city’s Department of Planning and Investment, aimed to call for more support from the Japan Desk Office in Hai Phong in facilitating local and Japanese businesses and investors.
Participants at the event were brought up to date on the procedures relating to businesses’ operations and custom, and regulations on tax code, labour and fire safety.
They also discussed the difficulties facing businesses and suggested financial solutions for enterprises.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong city People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thanh, expressed his hope that the event would provide an opportunity for Vietnamese and Japanese businesses and operators to reach new potential partners, allowing them to increase their productivity and management capacity while improving their participation in global value chains.
Japan is currently among foreign strategic investors in Vietnam and has a particularly strong presence in Hai Phong city. Among the 38 countries and territories investing in Hai Phong, Japan has the largest number of projects and ranks second in terms of investment capital with 137 projects worth US$4.6 billion.
