Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam and Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Keomanyvong Phosy hosted talks in the ancient city of Hue (Thua Thien Hue Province) on November 11, aiming to strengthen the cooperation in information and communications between Vietnam and Laos.

The event was part of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Festival, which is taking place in Hue City.

At the talks, the two deputy ministers noted that foreign information is an important element in the foreign affairs of each country and as a bridge to expand people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, enhancing mutual understanding.

Foreign information also contributes to increasing international friends’ ability to access information about each country and promote the image of Vietnam and Laos.

Cooperation in foreign information will further strengthen information and communication, boosting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides expressed their wishes to promote cooperation between the two state management agencies on foreign information in the near future.

At the talks, leaders from the Authority of Foreign Information Service under the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications and the Department of Mass Communications under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in promoting foreign information and communications between Vietnam and Laos.

The Memorandum of Understanding reached agreements on the general principle of enhancing cooperation between the parties on foreign information.

The two sides identified the cooperation in many areas, including social management through information and communications, digital transformation in foreign information, training on foreign information and international media cooperation, the organisation and participation in international media events to promote the image of each country, and other issues mutually agreed upon by both parties.
