The cooperation aims to promote digital payments between the two countries and support tourism development and bilateral connection services in the context of post-COVID-19 tourism growth. This is also an activity in response to the Vietnam tourism week in the RoK and to mark the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 22, 1992 - 2022).

Under the MoU, NAPAS and BC Card will implement cashless payment services in Vietnam and the RoK using domestic and global card payment methods provided by BC Card and through NAPAS chip cards in addition to payment via QR code through NAPAS and BC Card networks.

The two sides will also strengthen communication and marketing to raise awareness about non-cash payment services in Vietnam and the RoK. They will also increase brand recognition at stores, travel agencies and related units through the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organisation.

In addition, the two sides will study and develop a set of instructions for Vietnamese tourists to use NAPAS cards along with other tourist card products for convenient and fast payment when visiting the RoK.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said that the payment demands of Vietnamese and RoK tourists are increasing, therefore, convenient payment instruments are very important. He expressed his hope that the cooperation between NAPAS and BC Card will create more favourable conditions for tourists of both countries.
