Specifically, Major Luc Thai Ha will join MINUSCA while Captain Vu Quang Khai will serve with UNISFA. This is the fourth time that Vietnamese Coast Guard officers have been deployed on UN peace missions.

Speaking at a meeting on February 26, Major General Le Quang Dao — Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard — congratulated the two officers on their selection as personnel for the peace missions.

He stressed that the Vietnam Coast Guard is proud to contribute some of their best officers to act as the country’s ambassadors of peace.

The major general asked the two dispatched officers to uphold the qualities of Vietnamese soldiers and overcome all challenges to successfully fulfil their assigned duties.

For his part, Major Luc Thai Ha said the two have been fully prepared to join the UN peace missions and affirmed that they will quickly adapt to the new working environment and help spread the image of a peace-loving Vietnam.

Major Luc Thai Ha will work as an intelligence officer at MINUSCA starting from February 2024, while Captain Vu Quang Khai will serve as a military observer at UNISFA from March.
