The Vietnamese NA Vice Chairwoman made the remark while meeting with visiting President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, Anniken Huitfeldt, in Hanoi on September 15.
At the meeting, NA Vice Chairwoman Ngan spoke highly of President Huitfeldt’s visit, which, she said, demonstrates the tightened ties between the two countries’ legislative bodies.
She also expressed thanks for Norway’s support to Vietnam during the country’s past struggles for independence as well as current national construction.
NA Vice Chairwoman Ngan said she hopes the two sides would continue their regular exchange of high-level delegations and boost their partnership in the fields of economics, trade, investment and development assistance.
She also took this opportunity to express thanks to Norway for its great assistance to Vietnam as shown in its commitments to ODA. The funding of ODA from Norway has been used effectively in the fields of education, gender equality, health, and environmental protection amongst others, contributing considerably to socio-economic development and poverty reduction in Vietnam.
For her part, Anniken Huitfeldt said her delegation’s visit to Vietnam aimed to enhance the relationship between the two countries, adding that the two legislative bodies should continue fostering their co-operation by sharing law-making experience, and increasing delegation exchanges.
