The competition saw the participation of 122 teams including 366 students from elementary and secondary schools in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The teams were divided into three categories - apprentice, veteran and expert - based on their age group and robot-programming skills.
Under the theme of ‘EcoWatch’, participating student teams were asked to design, build, and program robots capable of executing multiple tasks and that demonstrate a solution to forest protection.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien said that in today’s context of robust international integration and globalisation, the success of each country is based on ideas and skills possessed by its citizens.
He praised the event as a useful activity for Southeast Asian students to further inspire their passion for science and technology.
