The Vietnamese official asked his Cambodian counterpart to work together to direct the completion of some legal frameworks on bilateral trade, such as revising or renewing the agreement on promoting bilateral trade and signing the border trade agreement in 2022.

He also called for cooperation between the two ministries in enhancing trade promotion activities, organising business forums, trade fairs and exhibitions to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Within the talks, the two ministers also discussed some trade issues of shared concern, coordination to access the markets of developed countries, and the stepping up of border trade.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Dien affirmed that Vietnamese ministry stands ready to work with the Cambodian side to foster Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation to achieve greater results and better tap into the strengths of each country.

In 2021, the trade value between the two countries reached 9.54 billion USD, up 79.1% from 2020. The figure has been estimated at 8 billion for the first eight months of 2022, up 19% year on year.
