Lan and Linh have been selected from members making active contributions to the Leaders’ Club of Change, an activity under the “Safe and friendly cities for girls” project implemented by the PIV at high schools in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district since 2014.
As the representatives for Vietnam’s urban children and adolescents, these two girls will have the chance to share initiatives about the building of safer cities for girls and adolescents in countries around the world.
More specifically, they will deliver a speech on the issue of public safety in the areas where they are living, while practising their dialogue skills and transmitting their messages in the most effective manner to global leaders.
The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the world’s premier conference on urban issues. It was established in 2001 by the United Nations to examine one of the most pressing issues facing the world today, including rapid urbanisation and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change, and policies.
Organised and convened by UN-Habitat, the Forum has become one of the most open gatherings in the international arena, for exchanging views and experiences on urban challenges. The inclusive nature of the Forum, combined with its high-level participation, makes it a unique United Nations conference and the premier international gathering on urban issues.
The WUF9 has been recognised by the General Assembly resolution 70/210 as the first session to have a thematic focus on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
