The event has drawn the participation of some 200 enterprises displaying their products in nearly 500 booths which have been voted by consumers as high-quality Vietnamese goods.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Dai Duong said the event in Ho Chi Minh City is a bridge to bring Vietnamese goods closer to local consumers.
He urged manufacturers to strive for products of higher quality to meet the demand of Vietnamese people and integrate better into global supply chains.
One notable feature of this fair is a special section showcasing products of farms, cooperatives and individual farmers who follow organic farming practices from various provinces throughout the country.
As part of the fair, which will last until May 2, there will also be a wide variety of promotional offerings for consumers.
Vu Kim Hanh, chair of the association of Vietnamese high-quality goods enterprises, said a set of criteria has been devised to evaluate the quality of Vietnamese goods, which is a commitment to quality products amidst the deluge of foreign goods.
On the occasion of the trade fair, the association granted certificates of recognition to the first 50 enterprises meeting the association’s standards.
