Vietnam’s stock market witnessed a strong surge on August 28, with the benchmark VN-Index ending the first trading day of the week up 1.55%.

The index rose by 18.35 points to 1,201.72 points, with the total trading volume estimated at over 19.8 trillion VND (821.75 million USD), down slightly from last week.

The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange saw 419 gainers and 90 losers.

In Hanoi, the HNX-Index rose by 0.81% to 244.88 points, with 110 gainers and 74 losers. The total trading volume on the Hanoi exchange reached 1,751.5 billion VND (72.7 million USD).

The UpCoM-Index of unlisted public companies climbed by 0.79% to 91.73 points.
