PM Chinh stressed that strong investment must be made in research labs and partnerships with domestic and international institutes and universities to create competitive “Make in Viet Nam” technology products and services.
Besides, VNPT should proactively build a national innovation ecosystem by developing an open ecosystem to accompany and support tech start-ups in creating breakthrough “Make in Viet Nam” products, services, and solutions, he said
It must play a “core” role in national digital transformation efforts, driving the development of digital infrastructure through the synchronised rollout of national digital infrastructure; ensuring safe and seamless connectivity from central to local levels; developing shared digital platforms that serve an effective, secure, and safe digital government, digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens; and supporting ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises to engage strongly in the digital transformation process, thereby narrowing the development gap between regions.
VNPT should also actively contribute to social security, particularly by eliminating telecom “blind spots” in remote and disadvantaged areas under the principle of state investment and enterprise operation, PM Chinh noted.
The Government leader also requested the group to align economic development with national defence and security tasks; decisively implement technological solutions to help make the digital economy a new and sustainable driver of national growth, thereby contributing at least 20% of GDP and supporting the national GDP growth target of 8.3–8.5% this year, moving toward double-digit growth in the coming years.
VNPT must become the core force in cyber warfare prevention, and protecting citizens’ data and the political system in cyberspace, he emphasised.
Emphasising that the Government will always accompany, listen to, remove obstacles, and create favourable mechanisms for VNPT to maximise its potential and fulfil its mission while promoting cultural values, the PM expressed his hope and confidence that the group will draw on the proud tradition of the revolutionary post and the spirit of its people to build a contingent of highly qualified technology officials and engineers with long-term vision, strong political will, courage, and pioneering role in innovation and international integration, thus making significant contributions to realising the strategic breakthrough of developing high-quality human resources for the nation.
He also showed his wish that the group will maximise its potential, fulfill its mission, and move forward with strong development, worthy of being a pillar of the national digital infrastructure. He trusted that VNPT will continue to conquer new heights, make important contributions to realising the aspiration of a powerful, prosperous Viet Nam which can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s leading powers.
On this occasion, the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group was awarded with the "Hero of Labour” title. This is the second time that VNPT has been honoured with this prestigious title, a well-deserved recognition of its outstanding efforts in innovation, particularly in fulfilling its pioneering mission of building digital infrastructure and driving the national digital transformation process.
