The system, a major part of the infrastructure for the nuclear power plant, was launched to ensure stable electricity supply during the implementation of the project.
Under the construction, a 110 kV double-circuit line, 13.63 kilometrers in length, will be installed, running through Phuoc Nam and Phuoc Dinh communes of Thuan Nam district, and Phuoc Hai commune of Ninh Phuoc district.
A 110/22 kV 25 MVA transformer station will also be constructed at Son Hai 1 hamlet, Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai stressed that the power system was an important part of the construction and trial operation of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant.
Deputy PM Hai, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project, emphasised the strategic role of nuclear power, describing it as a positive energy source that helps limit emissions of greenhouse gases by replacing thermoelectric plants using fossil fuels.
The development of nuclear power plant projects using large reactors is considered a solution to meet the country’s significant demands for electricity in the future, he said.
He hailed Ninh Thuan provincial authorities and people living in the project’s area for their support for the project, thus creating favourable conditions for the building of the plant.
He urged investors and contractors to stay conscientious of the importance of the project, calling on them to ensure workers’ safety, equipment quality and close co-ordination among relevant agencies in a bid to complete the project on scheduled with the highest quality and efficiency.
