This historic milestone marks the growth and maturity of the LPRP, which has steadfastly overcome all hardships and challenges. The momentous event also opens a new stage in the development of the Lao revolution, setting out important strategic orientations and reaffirming the LPRP’s noble mission to lead the country towards prosperity and well-being.
The 12th National Congress of the LPRP is held amid the jubilant celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975-2025) and the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane (December 13, 1920-2025).
A journey of half a century is long enough to testify to the mettle, intellect, stature and sound leadership of the LPRP, which has steered the revolutionary vessel, guiding the land of the Champa flower from one victory to another.
Each Party Congress of the LPRP represents an important historical milestone, recording the glorious achievements and valuable lessons of the Lao revolution.
In recent times, the political situation in Laos has remained basically stable, with public security and social order assured. The Lao economy has maintained fairly strong growth, driven by a robust recovery in foreign investment and tourism. The prestige and standing of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on the international stage have continued to rise.
Laos maintains diplomatic relations with around 150 countries and remains steadfast in its foreign policy of peace, independence, friendship and cooperation, while pursuing diversified, multilateral and multi-level partnerships. The country has carried out a wide range of important external and diplomatic activities to strengthen cooperation with nations and international organisations, while focusing on consolidating and enhancing relations with neighbouring countries and with ASEAN members.
These achievements constitute a firm affirmation of the correct and creative line of the LPRP, a revolutionary party that has remained resilient and steadfast in the face of all challenges, while continuously contributing to the cause of peace, national independence, democracy and social progress worldwide.
The achievements of Laos serve as a valuable source of encouragement for the Party, State and people of Viet Nam in their economic reform, and national construction and defence. Throughout the histories of both countries, the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party have always stood shoulder to shoulder, united in overcoming all difficulties and trials.
The faithful and sincere bond between the two neighbouring nations, which lean against the majestic Truong Son Range and share the waters of the Mekong River, has become a rare model of relations in the world. This relationship has been constantly nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples of both countries, becoming an invaluable common asset of the two nations, a matter of vital significance and a decisive factor ensuring the success of each country’s revolutionary cause.
Amid today’s complex and volatile regional and global landscape, the solidarity, fidelity and steadfastness of Viet Nam-Laos relations have become more important than ever.
The two countries have agreed to further deepen and elevate their ties to a new level defined as a relationship of “great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion”, reflecting a shared vision, intertwined strategic interests and a long-term orientation of companionship for the sustainable development of both nations.
With this elevation, the Viet Nam-Laos relationship is not merely a historical legacy, but a precious resource and a solid foundation enabling both countries to advance confidently along a new development path.
Both Parties and both countries are standing at the threshold of a new era of development, marked by major political events: the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. The 12th National Congress of the LPRP is expected to usher in a new stage of development for the Lao revolution, with important strategic orientations, comprehensively advancing the renewal process and guiding the Land of a Million Elephants steadily forward along the path of socialism.
Building on the glorious victories and valuable lessons gained in nation-building, we firmly believe that the two Parties and two countries will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder, harnessing their resolve and intellect, and promoting the spirit of renewal, creativity, self-reliance and resilience, to successfully implement the resolutions of their respective Party Congresses, thereby enabling Viet Nam and Laos to reap many more outstanding development achievements in the new era.
