The V-League champions entered the match confidently and quickly shot ahead thanks to the opening goal by Van Quyet on the 17th minute.
Despite being considered underdogs ahead of the match, Maziya did not make things easy for the home side with Nashid Ahmed leveling the score in a fast counter-attack just before half-time.
After the break, Hanoi T&T attacked strongly but failed to regain their lead. The game remained deadlocked until the 75th minute when Van Quyet restored Hanoi’s advantage with a successful close-range finish.
The final 15 minutes saw a stunning push by the home side. Hector scored the third goal for Hanoi T&T on the 78th before Van Quyet secured his hattrick four minutes later, making it 4-1. Substitute Van Thanh netted the fifth goal with just one minute left to play to seal an emphatic win for the host team.
The 5-1 victory is bound to boost Hanoi’s confidence for their remaining Group F qualifiers against Indonesia’s Arema Cronous and Malaysia’s Selangor.
