An Giang: Voters in Tho Chau Special Zone enthusiastically join early voting

Voters in the Tho Chau Special Zone in An Giang Province enthusiastically participated in early voting for the deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term on March 8.

Through their ballots, citizens expressed their trust in candidates, choosing individuals with both integrity and competence to represent their voices, aspirations, and interests.

Located more than 200 kilometres from the mainland, Tho Chau is a special area. The National Election Council of Viet Nam allowed early voting here to accommodate travel conditions, national defence and security duties, and to ensure that officers, soldiers, and residents could exercise their democratic rights.

At around 6:30 am, five polling stations across the special administrative zone simultaneously opened. Voters quickly arrived to cast their ballots.

Before voting, officers and soldiers carefully studied the biographies of the candidates. Polling stations were decorated with flags, flowers, and banners celebrating the election. Ballot boxes were arranged conveniently for voters, and security and order were strictly maintained.

According to the Election Committee of Tho Chau Special Zone, the special administrative zone has 2,182 voters participating in the election. Specifically, 2,135 voters elect deputies to the National Assembly (16th tenure) and the An Giang Provincial People’s Council (11th tenure, 2026–2031); 721 voters elect deputies to the People’s Council of Tho Chau Special Zone (the 2nd tenure, 2026–2031).
