The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Vietnam held a gala reception in Hanoi on July 30 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI, under whose visionary leadership, Morocco continues to stand out today as a voice of moderation, a peace and stability provider within a region full of turbulence.

At the event, Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam Jamale Chouaibi reiterated my heartfelt condolences upon the passing of Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong, a great visionary leader who will be remembered for his exemplary contributions to Vietnam’s outstanding achievements.

He also noted that Morocco has also been transformed, during King Mohammed VI’s reign, into a regional power house and a model of progress. With more than 50 free-trade agreements, Morocco provides nowadays access to a consumer market of 2.5 billion people.

While strengthening its traditional industries, such as agri-food, pharmaceuticals and tourism by making them more competitive, Morocco stimulated new emerging sectors, notably the automotive industry and aerospace.

The celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the enthronement of His Majesty coincides this year with the 63th anniversary since the establishment of Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Morocco in 1961.

In recent years, Vietnam and Morocco have embarked on a journey of enhanced bilateral cooperation. This burgeoning partnership, spanning political, economic, cultural, demonstrates the shared vision of both countries to leverage their complementary strengths and geographical positions for mutual benefit.

For her part, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang extended the warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Morocco, as well as to the Ambassador and all Moroccan friends currently residing and working in Vietnam.

She affirmed that as a friend of Morocco, Vietnam closely follows and supports Morocco’s achievements in national construction and development.

Vietnam is delighted to see Morocco emerge as a global leader in green transition, with a commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, a goal that Vietnam is also striving to reach, added the Deputy Foreign Minister.

She noted that the Governments of Vietnam and Morocco have been actively working to enhance cooperation across all areas of bilateral relations.

The two sides have maintained delegation exchanges at all levels and actively supported each other in multilateral forums. Morocco remains a significant economic partner of Vietnam in the North African region, with trade turnover increasing by over 10% per year since 2017, reaching 254.7 million USD in 2023. Furthermore, cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges have been actively promoted.

In the coming time, the two Governments will continue to coordinate closely to implement cooperation mechanisms effectively.
