April 5, 1954: De Castries sent a telegram to Cogny requesting urgent reinforcement for Dien Bien Phu

On the morning of April 5, 1954, the Clédic unit had an additional company under the the 8th Parachute Assault Battalion reinforced at Dien Bien Phu, aiming to completely recapture the 105th fortress (Huguette 6).

After that, the 2nd Battalion under the First Colonial Parachute Regiment, which was commanded by Minaud, arrived to replace the Clédic unit that withdrew to the rear as a reserve force.

De Castries sent a telegram to Cogny requesting urgent reinforcement of food, medicine, ammunition, and even soldiers for Dien Bien Phu.

Faced with the situation on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield, Navarre looked forward to a bombing programme called the Operation Vulture, and encouraged the soldiers to hold out until the rainy season when the Viet Minh would have to withdraw.
