Attending the event were members of the Party Central Committee; Le Tien Chau, Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Van Phuong, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee; representatives of central ministries, sectors, provinces and cities nationwide, historical witnesses, military generals and a large number of local residents.

The programme was broadcast live on VTV1, Viet Nam Television.

“Epic on the River” is a profound tribute to generations of cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, militia forces and people who fought bravely and sacrificed their lives in the Gianh Ferry–Gianh Port area during the resistance war against the US.

Featuring renowned artists, music serves as the “red thread” connecting different layers of content and guiding the audience’s emotions within a large-scale setting that combines real-life staging, music, tribute rituals and elaborately produced television reports rich in emotion, vividly portraying the strategic position of Gianh Ferry Wharf and Gianh Port in history, particularly during the resistance war against the US.

On the historic Gianh River, the night of “Epic on the River” evoked deep emotions, truly moving the audience and inspiring national pride so that present and future generations may confidently continue building a more prosperous and peaceful homeland.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau and a central delegation, together with leaders of Quang Tri Province, offered incense at the temple within the special national historical site of Gianh Ferry Wharf in Bac Gianh Ward, Quang Tri Province.

With mobilised social funding, Quang Tri Province has upgraded the Gianh Ferry Wharf Historical Site to preserve its outstanding historical and cultural values. The site has become a spiritual destination for visitors and local residents travelling along the north–south route across Gianh Bridge in northern Quang Tri Province.
