Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose by 0.89% during the first trading session after the National Day holiday, supported by stocks in the banking sector.

The index climbed to 1,234.98 points, with the total trading volume at over 24.585 trillion VND (1.02 billion USD), up 15% from the previous session on August 31.

The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange saw 366 gainers and 141 losers.

In Hanoi, the HNX-Index rose by 1.02% to 252.28 points, with 129 gainers and 69 losers. The total trading volume on the Hanoi bourse reached 2,117.1 billion VND (87.9 million USD).

The UpCoM-Index of unlisted public companies climbed by 1.04% to 94.29 points.
