Budget revenue from imports-exports reaches 153 trillion VND in five months

State budget collection from import and export activities was reported at nearly 153 trillion VND (6.5 billion USD), in the first five months of this year, reaching 36% of the yearly estimate and down 18% over the same period last year, the General Department of Customs announced on June 7.

In May alone, the budget revenue reached over 28.6 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD).

According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s total import and export revenue was estimated at 55.86 billion USD in May 2023, up 5.3% over the previous month.

During the first five months of this year, total import and export revenue hit over 262.5 billion USD, down 14.7% over the same period in 2022. Which, export value was posted at over 136.1 billion USD, down 11.6%, while import value reached over 126.3 billion USD, down 17.9% over the same period in 2022.

Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 2.24 billion USD in May and a total trade surplus of 9.8 billion USD in the first five months of this year.
