Hanoi approves Mai Dich – Nam Thang Long project

Nhan Dan – The Hanoi People’s Committee has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Transport to build the Mai Dich – Nam Thang Long elevated highway as part of the capital’s third ring road.

Total funding for the project is estimated at VND6 trillion (US$288 million), primarily sourced from Japanese official development assistance.

The elevated highway will run 6.1 kilometres from the north end of the Mai Dich flyover to the interchange south of Thang Long Bridge.

The four-lane highway will be 24 metres wide and allows vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 100 kilometres per hour.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin in August 2016 and will be completed in July 2019.
