Additional 15 commercial banks to provide electronic tax filing services

An additional 15 commercial banks will provide online tax payment services for business customers, raising the number of banks providing the online service to 20.

Agreements to this effect were signed between the 15 commercial banks and the General Department of Taxation in Hanoi on March 10.

Under the agreements, the 15 participating banks along with the General Department of Taxation will work together to build electronic application systems, exchange related information and train human resources. They will also co-ordinate with each other to operate the electronic systems and mobilise taxpayers to use electronic tax filing services.

The 15 commercial banks to provide online tax filing services are HDBank, ABBank, ACB, SHB, Maritime Bank, VIB, Techcombank, VPBank, SCB, SeABank, TienPhong Bank, LienVietPostBank, MHB, Sacombank, and Viet Capital Bank.

Last year, the General Department of Taxation signed deals on providing online tax filing services with five commercial banks including BIDV, VietinBank, Vietcombank, Agribank and MB.

According to the General Department of Taxation, by the end of 2016 the tax sector expects to sign agreements with all commercial banks, providing electronic tax payment services for all taxpayers.

Since the launch of the online tax filling service in early 2014, about 24,000 enterprises from 18 provinces and cities have used the services with a total online tax payment of over VND14 trillion (US$658 million).

General Director of Taxation Bui Van Nam said that the tax sector hopes to see 90% of enterprises pay taxes online this year.
