Workshop boosts links to develop tourism in central region

NDO – A workshop was organised in Vinh city, Nghe An province on February 20 to discuss measures to promote tourism in the north and south of the central region.

The workshop saw the presence of Politburo members Tran Dai Quang, Minister of Public Security, and Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, together with over 400 representatives from local and central agencies and tourism companies, in addition to managers, experts and ambassadors from several regional countries.

Speaking at the gathering, Hue highlighted the region’s tourism potential after a master plan on developing Vietnam’s tourism to 2020 with a vision to 2030 was recently approved.

He said that the workshop aimed to improve the awareness of localities on the importance of sectorial and regional links and collaboration in sustainable tourism development; promoting and making use of resources to develop unique and attractive tourism products and high-quality services with local and regional competitiveness.

Hue stated that it is crucial to build a safe and civilised tourism environment in order to attract tourists from potential markets and further develop the tourism sector.

He also asked for tourism connectivity and development in the region and further research to be carried out on building policies to attract investors to develop Vietnam’s tourism.

Over 20 presentations were given at the workshop, focusing on strategic directions for the region’s tourism development as well as links and solutions for tourism connectivity and localities’ advantages and roles in regional tourism development linkage.

On the sidelines of the event, a photo exhibition to promote tourism in the region was organised while publications on tourism potential and invitations for investment and products of businesses were displayed.
