A memorandum of understanding on the investment was signed between the German company and the provincial People’s Committee at a working session on April 2.

Covering 50 hectares in Hoa An commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang I will have an operating capacity of more than 40MWp and cost US$50 million. Meanwhile, Hau Giang II is expected to be built on an area of 200 hectares at the Nhon Nghia A Industrial Cluster in Chau Thanh A district. The US$200 million plant has a designed capacity of more than 170MWp.

Construction of the two plants is scheduled to begin in December 2018 and be completed by June 2019.

Addressing the Monday working session, Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hau Giang provincial People’s Committee, welcomed BS Heidelberg Solar GmbH’s investment in clean energy, stating that the two projects to be implemented by the company match with the locality’s guidelines and general planning for solar power.

He pledged the province’s full support for the German firm in dealing with any difficulties arising which could hinder the smooth implementation of the projects.

Rodny Scherzer, a member of the Board of Directors of BS Heidelberg Solar GmbH, said Hau Giang has favourable natural conditions for solar power projects. As a matter of importance, the company will try to push the implementation of these projects, he said, calling for assistance from the local government.
