China remains the largest importer of Thieu lychees with a total import volume of 86,500 tonnes. The remaining 500 tonnes of lychees have been shipped to other markets.
According to the Bac Giang provincial Department of Industry and Trade, as many as 178 Chinese traders had directly visited Bac Giang by June 25 in order to buy lychees for shipment to China.
Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Dao Xuan Cuong, said that there are only two weeks to go to the end of lychee season. By the end of June 25, Bac Giang province had consumed more than 183,800 tonnes of lychees.
The majority of lychees have been sold domestically in addition to being exported to 30 countries and territories including the major markets, China, the EU, Russia, the US, Canada, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Australia.
The prices of lychees have remained stable during the crop, ranging from VND5,000-VND25,000 per kg on June 25, depending on the quality of the fruit. High-quality lychees for export are hovering around VND15,000-VND25,000 per kg.
