He emphasised that the south-central province’s efforts should be replicated by other provinces as Binh Thuan, a tourism and service centre, has also been hard hit by the coronavirus.
The PM was attending a virtual conference with Binh Thuan leaders on July 23.
According to Binh Thuan Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Hai, as of June 30 the province had disbursed 38.4% of VND3 trillion (US$129.6 million) worth of public funds and the rate had increased to 42% as of July 21.
He added that Binh Thuan is focusing on 160 kilometres of the north-south expressway traversing the province, having completed 93% of site clearance work and disbursed 71.3% of the capital for the project.
Hai affirmed that all the cleared land will be handed over to project management by the end of August so that construction work can commence on the Phan Thiet-Dau Giay and Phan Thiet-Vinh Hao sections.
At the conference, PM Phuc also commended Binh Thuan for its efforts to keep its economic growth targets unchanged despite the impacts of the coronavirus on its tourism industry.
He added that Binh Thuan is facing a severe drought and asked the province to position water supply for its residents and agricultural crops as one of the top priorities.
