Newly established enterprises soar by nearly 22% in January

The first month of 2021 saw large increases in both the number of newly established enterprises and registered capital compared to the same period in 2020, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Nearly 10,100 new enterprises were set up in January this year with a total registered capital of over VND155 trillion, up about 22% in terms of enterprises and 26% in terms of registered capital compared to the same month in 2020.

In addition, average registered capital per enterprise reached VND15.4 billion, up 3.2% over the same period last year.

Newly established enterprises also registered nearly 116,000 workers, a sharp rise of over 37% against the same period in 2020.

In January, more than 4,000 enterprises also registered to expand their investment capital by VND240 trillion, raising total newly registered and supplemented capital to over VND395 trillion in January, up 10.5% over the same period in 2020.

Moreover, 6,503 enterprises resumed operations in January, down 23.2% compared to the same period in 2020, lifting the total number of newly established and resumed enterprises to 16,594, down 0.9% over the corresponding period last year.

This month, more than 25,750 enterprises have temporarily suspended their operations, are waiting for dissolution procedures or have completed dissolution procedures, up 36.4% over the same month in 2020.
