Capable of carrying up to 24,188 twenty-foot container boxes, and having a total length of 399.99 meters and a width of 61.3 meters, the OOCL Spain is named among the largest container ships in the world.
The vessel has been awarded three “Smart Ship” notations by the American Bureau of Shipping (“ABS”). This is recognition, that OOCL’s use of the latest intelligent technology onboard, together with big data acquisition, will optimise the operations of OOCL Spain, enabling fuel efficiency improvements, gains in structural health monitoring, and long-term navigational safety.
The selection of Gemalink Port by OOCL as a reliable connection point in its service route, once again affirmed the capacity of Gemalink Port, to receive the world's largest container ships, meeting the strict requirements of international shipping lines, while further consolidating the critical role of the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, on transcontinental maritime routes.
Currently, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is aiming to concentrate all investment resources and develop the Cai Mep-Thi Vai seaport system, into a gateway port and a special-level international transhipment port of the country, as well as develop the seaport and port logistics industry of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, into a key economic sector of the province, supporting the development of other enterprises and services of the province and at the same time, closely combine the development of seaports and port logistics, in association with the assurance of maritime defence and security.
