The Central Steering Committee for the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control through 2030 (the Steering Committee) is an inter-agency coordinating body tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the management of crucial inter-sectoral matters pertaining to the implementation of the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control through 2030 (the National Target Programme).
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra serves as Head of the Steering Committee. General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, serves as Deputy Head.
The Steering Committee is tasked with assisting the Prime Minister in undertaking research and providing advice, recommendations, and proposals on orientations and solutions for directing and administering to the management and implementation of the National Target Programme.
It will also assist the Prime Minister in directing, administering, and coordinating activities among ministries, central agencies, and localities in implementing the National Target Programme; directing and prompting ministries, central agencies, and localities to review and assess implementation results; and developing the implementation plan for the 2026–2030 period.
The Steering Committee is also charged with directing the inspection, supervision, and evaluation of the National Target Programme’s implementation; compiling information and promptly reporting to the Prime Minister; proposing solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles; and discharging other tasks assigned by the Prime Minister.
