Lawmakers, during the 16th National Assembly’s first extraordinary session on August 24, approved a resolution on investment policy for a national target programme on culture, society, rural development, and ethnic minority and mountainous areas for 2026-2035, with 808.5 trillion VND (30.7 billion USD) earmarked for the 2026-2030 period.

A new national target programme, to be consolidated from four existing programmes and focusing on seven key groups of tasks, while eliminating intermediary layers, is what the National Assembly expects as it considers and votes to approve the issue at the first extraordinary session of the 16th National Assembly.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has signed Decision No. 1356/QD-TTg establishing the Central Steering Committee for the National Target Programme on Drug Prevention and Control through 2030.
