The conference aims to promote the role of the Lao Cai-Ha Khau border gate pair on the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic corridor and the Vietnamese market, ASEAN countries with the Southwest region of China, effectively implement the policy of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and China on promoting the exchange of goods, increasing the value of two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China.
This is an opportunity to connect key units importing and exporting agricultural products, fruits and aquatic products of Vietnam and China and promote export and import through the Lao Cai international border gate, contributing to the growth of Vietnam's import and export turnover.
Speaking at the conference, Hoang Quoc Khanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, requested that businesses of both sides enthusiastically and actively exchange to achieve high efficiency in trade activities.
At the same time, he also suggested that the People's Government of Ha Khau District further strengthen information exchange activities, trade promotion activities, and connecting traders and businesses between the two sides to concretise the Memorandum of Understanding on enhancing economic and trade cooperation signed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Vietnam) and the People's Government of Yunnan province (China).
Nguyen Viet Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Lao Cai Province, added: To promote the role of a bridge, more deeply connecting the Vietnamese market, ASEAN countries with the Southwest region of China and effectively implementing the contents signed by the authorities of both sides, this conference aims to create a playground for businesses of the two countries provinces to meet directly, connect and trade, and at the same time support businesses in Hong Ha District, Yunnan Province, China, to directly survey to be able to properly assess the potential and scale of agricultural, forestry and fishery production of provinces and cities of Vietnam.

Five memorandums of understanding on cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises were signed at the conference. At the event, there were two presentations by Vietnamese enterprises and two by Chinese enterprises.
The organising committee also arranged about 30 product display tables for businesses inside and outside Lao Cai Province to participate in the conference to display and introduce products at the conference area, including Vietnam's export strengths to the Chinese market, such as fruits, coffee, seafood, and medicinal herbs.
