Cyclo drivers from sponsor companies will compete in the event, which is held annually by the Saigon Children’s Charity (SCC) to raise money to help underprivileged children in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces.
The organising board expects to raise about VND735 million (around US$35,200) at this year’s race from charitable organisations and individuals, which will be used to finance education projects for children in southern localities.
According to the SCC, over US$500,000 has been mobilised from the race during the past 11 years, 90% of which was directly spent to help poor and disabled Vietnamese children.
