The city leaders assigned to the Department of Culture and Sport, Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to co-ordinate and build a scheme to promote the city’s mascot in the near future.

Featuring five colours, the langur have been honoured as the ‘Queen of the primates’ for its beauty.

About 530 red-shanked douc langurs inhabit the Son Tra Nature Reserve, representing 83% of the total amount of natural langurs known to exist worldwide. The reserve is also known for its rich biodiversity with 287 different animal species, 106 bird species, and 15 rare wild animals currently being protected.

According to data from the latest research survey, while the species are being threatened with extinction worldwide, they are being preserved and are developing stably in Son Tra peninsula.
