Dak Lak Province celebrates 120th founding anniversary

The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak held a ceremony on November 22 to mark the 120th anniversary of its establishment (1904-2024) and look towards the 50th anniversary of its liberation (1975-2025).

In his speech, Dak Lak Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Trung recounted the history of Dak Lak from pre-historic time to the present day.

Dak Lak Province was formally established by the French colonial government in 1904, marking a new milestone as the result of the integration of local culture, society, people, economics, politics and territory into the national history.

Today, Dak Lak is enjoying decent economic growth, with its economic output topping the Central Highlands, averaging 7% per year during the 2021-2023 period.

The province has been honoured with the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title, the Golden Star Order, the Ho Chi Minh Order, and many other decorations for its outstanding achievements.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Nguyen Hoa Binh underlined Dak Lak’s strong rise from a poor and backward land to become a province with a dynamic economy and an improved standard of living for its people.

He asked the province to capitalise on all opportunities, overcome all difficulties, and mobilise efforts of the entire political system and people to transform Dak Lak into liveable province with ecological space and a unique cultural identity.
