Selected from more than 300 agricultural products from 63 provinces and cities around the country, this type of pomelo was one of 59 agricultural brands evaluated as high-quality.
Doan Hung pomelo was also recognised as a ‘geographical indication brand’ and has its name and origin protected by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam.
The recognition of Doan Hung pomelo as a high-quality, clean and safe product is expected to improve its value in both domestic and international markets.
Additionally, the awards encourage famers, scientists and enterprises in Phu Tho province to continue to focus on the application of modern technology in production in order to increase productivity and the quality of products.
Currently, Doan Hung district has a total area of 1,680 hectares for planting pomelos, of which 1,062 are used for its special variety and the rest for Dien pomelos.
The yield of grapefruits in Doan Hung district has increased from 2,000 tonnes in 2010 to 9,000 tonnes in 2015, with the value of Doan Hung pomelo reaching over VND200 billion.
