The gold price has gone up for the fourth consecutive day while the US dollar is also on the rise, now selling at VND 21,950 per US dollar, up VND 70 against the previous day.
This morning, Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company listed its buying and selling prices in Hanoi at VND 36.90 and 37.03 million/tael respectively.
Gold prices listed by Saigon Jewelry Holding Company (SJC) were VND 36.90 million/tael for buying and VND 37.00 million/tael for selling. Accordingly, the buying and selling prices went up by around VND 270,000 a tael compared to yesterday.
This is the first time in 2011 that gold has broken the VND 37 million/tael threshold, just VND 1 million/tael lower than the record high of more than VND 38 million/tael set in November 2010.
In the world market on February 16, gold for immediate delivery hit a one-month high at US$1,381.84 an ounce. This morning, it stood at US$1,374.64 an ounce and is expected to continue to rise.
