Dragon mascot highlighted through young painters’ eyes

Eighty outstanding paintings of dragon mascots at a fine art exhibition themed “Painting dragon” at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi showed young painters’ new and creative perspective on the dragon, the mascot of the upcoming Lunar New Year.

The exhibition, which opens from January 19 to February 20, displays the most outstanding painters from the Illustration Challenge #13 Contest held by Tired City and Vietnam Local Artist Group (VLAG) in November 2023.

Visiting the exhibition, guests will immerse themselves in stories about dragons inspired by legends, culture, movies, stories and daily life.

At the opening ceremony for the exhibition, the Director of the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature, Le Xuan Kieu, said the exhibition aims to bring visual installation corners for visitors to the relic site and help them learn more about the spiritual and symbolic value of the dragon image in the cultural activities of Vietnamese people.

In addition to the exhibition at the Temple of Literature, the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre showcases 30 other artworks from this contest.
