Efforts made to sustainably develop organic agriculture

On November 26, the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association (VOAA) celebrated the 10th anniversary of its establishment and honoured outstanding examples of organic agriculture development nationwide.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien emphasised that the VOAA needs to promote good deeds to truly become a common house trusted by its members and agricultural producers.

Agencies and units need to spread the spirit of organic agricultural production for public health and for the sustainability and biodiversity of the ecological environment with creative, scientific and sustainable methods.

During its 10 years of establishment and development, VOAA has mobilised thousands of members, has many consulting documents, proposed mechanisms and policies to ministries and sectors to concretise policies for the development of organic agriculture in Vietnam.

Currently, the total area designated as organic agricultural land in Vietnam measures about 174,351 hectares, an increase of 47% compared to 2016. There are 17,174 organic agricultural production units, 555 processing units, and 60 export enterprises.

At the ceremony, the VOAA awarded gold cups, silver cups and certificates of merit tooutstanding examples of organic agriculture development nationwide.
