PM Pham Minh Chinh honours heroes and revolutionaries at Con Dao

On the morning of May 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid tribute to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the national liberation cause at cemeteries in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s island district of Con Dao.

At the Con Dao Memorial Temple located within Hang Duong Cemetery, the PM offered flowers and incense to commemorate the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, heroes, fallen soldiers and compatriots who sacrificed themselves for the nation’s independence and freedom.

At Hang Duong Cemetery, which contains over 1,900 graves of Vietnamese revolutionary fighters and patriots, the government leader observed a moment of silence to express his profound gratitude to those who did not spare their blood, youth, and lives for the motherland.

Earlier, PM Chinh laid flowers and offered incense at Hang Keo Cemetery, where approximately 10,000 prisoners killed by French colonialists at Con Dao prison were buried.

* On the same morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and presented gifts to former Con Dao prisoner Nguyen Xuan Vien, as well as the family of Vo Thi Thanh, a relative of martyr Le Nhien, both residing in Con Dao.

The Prime Minister affirmed that caring for the lives of wounded soldiers, families of fallen soldiers, and those who have contributed to the revolution is a consistent policy of the Party and State.

* Also that morning, the Prime Minister listened to reports from Ba Ria-Vung Tau leaders and related units regarding the Con Dao Airport planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, as well as the Co Ong urban area project. He also conducted an on-site inspection of the Con Dao Airport area.
