The process is facilitated by the Vietnamese payment gateway Napas, which signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the office of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in the RoK (KVNAT) on February 28.

Under the agreement, the two sides will promote electronic payment on the Vietnamese tourism agency’s mobile apps, allowing the two countries’ users to buy goods and services at the commercial network of Napas’s member banks in Vietnam and KVNAT’s partners in the RoK.

In December last year, the tourism agencies of Vietnam and the RoK signed a cooperation agreement for the 2023-2024 period, while Napas has also forged cooperation with Korean financial organisations to facilitate digital payment between the two countries.

The cooperation between Napas and KVNAT is expected to help Vietnamese and Korean people have enjoyable experiences when travelling in the other country by reducing the time needed for money exchange, thereby boosting the recovery and development of the two countries’ tourism industries.
