On July 3, Pham Hai Anh, Consul General of Viet Nam in Perth, paid a courtesy call on Christopher Dawson, Governor of Western Australia, on the occasion of the start of her diplomatic tenure.

Welcoming Consul General Pham Hai Anh to Western Australia, Governor Christopher Dawson voiced his conviction that, in her new role, she would make instrumental contributions to further cementing and deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Australia, while driving increasingly pragmatic cooperation between Viet Nam and Western Australia.

For her part, Consul General Pham Hai Anh reaffirmed that Viet Nam views Australia as one of its most important partners in the region. She noted that since the two countries elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bilateral cooperation has broadened significantly across a broad range of fields, including politics, the economy, trade, investment, defence, security, education, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges. These achievements, she said, have laid a robust foundation for localities in both countries to broaden cooperation in the new phase of bilateral relations.

The Consul General also outlined the Consulate General's priorities for the coming period, focusing on further enhancing connectivity in investment, trade, science and technology, education, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation between localities. She expressed her hope that the Government of Western Australia would continue to support the Consulate General's activities as well as the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in the state.

Governor Christopher Dawson commended Viet Nam's development achievements and its increasingly important role in the region.

He also acknowledged the Vietnamese community in Western Australia as a dynamic and industrious community that has made invaluable contributions to the state's socio-economic development and multicultural society.

Governor Dawson reaffirmed his support for initiatives designed to fortify cooperation between Viet Nam and Western Australia. He encouraged both sides to continue scaling up collaboration in areas such as construction and agriculture, and signalled his readiness to help address any issues that may arise in advancing bilateral cooperation.
