Western Australia regards Viet Nam as one of its priority partners in South-East Asia and is seeking to deepen cooperation across trade, investment and other key sectors, Premier Roger Cook has said.

The Governor of Western Australia has voiced confidence that the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Perth will play a pivotal role in further strengthening and deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Australia, while cultivating increasingly substantive and effective cooperation between Viet Nam and Western Australia.

In addition to the upgrade of infrastructure to attract strategic investment and the development of a highly skilled workforce, Viet Nam has reaffirmed its commitment to further improving its institutional framework and business environment in order to attract more Australian enterprises, particularly those from Western Australia.

Viet Nam is advancing efforts to build a globally integrated education system, with partnerships with leading institutions in Western Australia seen as pivotal to this goal, according to Dang Thuy Chi, First Secretary in charge of education at the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia.

The launch of the National Australia – Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAVCCI) marks a new step forward in promoting economic, trade and investment ties at the local level between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Perth, in partnership with the Western Australia – Viet Nam Business Council (WAVBC), convened a business forum on opportunities in trade and investment on March 12.

The leaders of Western Australia have expressed appreciation for and commitment to strengthening cooperation with Viet Nam, highlighting shared opportunities in trade, education, tourism, and energy.
