Speaking at a meeting of the awards steering and organising committees in Hanoi on May 26, Chien stressed the need for the organisers to provide further information and enhance their professional exchange with journalists and press agencies, so that they get involved in radically investigating and reflecting on cases of corruption and wastefulness.
It is also necessary to continue renovating the organisational structure and come up with various forms to honour and encourage journalists to fight corruption and wastefulness, he said.
The receipt and classification of entries, the establishment of jury councils for the preliminary and final rounds, and the judging process must be closely conducted, together with developing the script and preparing the relevant conditions to successfully organise the awards ceremony, the VFF leader added.
At the meeting, the VFF Central Committee announced a decision on perfecting the steering committee of the awards, with Chien serving as its head.
The third National Press Awards on preventing and combating corruption and wastefulness are being co-organised by the Standing Board of the VFF Central Committee, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and Vietnam Television (VTV).
Entries can be in the form of printed newspaper, online newspaper, radio and television, and should be sent to the organisers no later than June 21, 2021.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held this September and broadcast live on VTV’s VTV1 channel.
