Former Vietnamese Party official honoured with Japanese order

The Japanese government has decided to award the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, to Hoang Binh Quan, former head of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Commission for External Relations.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Hanoi, the order is given in recognition of Quan’s significant contributions to enhancing the relationship and friendship between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Party official is one of the individuals to receive the Japanese decoration in spring 2024, as announced by the Japanese government on April 29.

Quan was born in 1959 and was a member of the Central Committee of the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th tenures. He was also a National Assembly member of the 9th, 11th and 13th tenures.

He held the post of head of the Central Commission for External Relations from July 2009 to March 2021.
