Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai, praised the VFA’s achievements during a working session with the Central Committee of the VFA in Hanoi on April 19. The event aimed to review 10 years of implementing Conclusion No. 62-KL/TW (tenure 10th) by the Politburo regarding “Continuing to renew the content and mode of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political-social organisations".
At the meeting, Mai assessed that, after 10 years of implementing Conclusion No. 62-KL/TW, the VFA has defined the right direction, showing its true functions and tasks in gathering people and acting as a bridge between farmers and the Party.
Its activities at all levels have resulted in breakthrough results, making coordination between the association and local authorities and other socio-political organisations more effective.
Every year, there are more than 3.9 million farmer households with positive business operations, assisting over 790,000 disadvantaged households in terms of materials, labour days and product consumption worth more than VND15 trillion, as well as creating jobs for over 11 million workers and helping 150,000 farmers’ families escape poverty. The movement of new rural area construction also achieved positive results.
In the last decade, farmers voluntarily contributed more than VND20 trillion, over 47 million working days and 44 million m2 of land to key State projects, contributing significantly to national economic development.
Praising the achievements gained by the VFA, Mai recommended that the association improves the sustainability of its effective activities, while innovating its operating modes suitable for farmers and proposing mechanisms and policies to ensure farmers’ interests.
