On October 19, Blue Ocean JSC, a member of Ocean Group, inaugurated its frozen fruit processing factory in Lam Ha District, Lam Dong Province and held a ceremony to export the first batch of passion fruit to the Australian market.
Blue Ocean JSC Sales Director Phan Quoc Nam informed that with more than 1.5 tonnes of passion fruit exported to Australia, Blue Ocean JSC is the first Vietnamese enterprise to export passion fruit to this market after efforts on negotiations and close coordination between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Passion fruit has become the fifth fruit officially exported to Australia, after mango, longan, lychee and dragon fruit.
Blue Ocean JSC officially opened an agricultural product processing plant in Lam Dong Province on the same day.
With a total area of 10,000m2 and an advanced technology system, the factory can produce and supply the market with more than 10,000 tonnes of products per year.
The processed products will be agricultural products of Lam Dong Province, the Central Highlands provinces and the Mekong Delta region, such as durian, passion fruit, rambutan, mango, and dragon fruit.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Pham S said that the province’s current agricultural production area is more than 388,000 ha, including more than 40,000 ha for growing fruit trees, with a total output of about 600,000 tonnes. However, processed products are still modest. The provincial Vice Chairman noted that the new fruit processing factory by Blue Ocean JSC opens up new opportunities for farmers and the company to form a production-processing-consumption chain.
