Foreign leaders extend congratulations to Vietnam on National Day

Leaders from various countries and international organisations around the world sent their greetings to Vietnam, on the occasion of the 77th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-2022).

The First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello Rondon, sent a congratulatory letter to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

He expressed his impression of the development and prestige of Vietnam in the international arena under the ingenious leadership of the CPV and the guidance of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings while affirming his determination to further enhance the cooperation and friendships between the two parties, governments and people.

The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent his greetings to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, emphasising that the UN has always appreciated the role and contribution of Vietnam towards joint efforts in solving global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, hunger eradication and inequality towards the Sustainable Development Goals. He expressed his belief that Vietnam will continue to join hands with the UN to overcome challenges to build a better, fairer and more peaceful world.

Japanese Emperor Naruhito also sent a message of congratulations to the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

In his congratulatory message to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Yoon Suk Yeol, highlighted the significance of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam – RoK diplomatic ties, while highly valuing the achievements in their cooperation over the past years. He also affirmed that the RoK is always ready to work closely with Vietnam to develop the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (UK) extended her best greetings to the Vietnamese people while expressing her belief that both two countries can look forward to a brighter future thanks to efforts to overcome the pandemic.

The congratulatory message from President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier affirmed the long-standing friendship between the two nations and their mutual support in the recent fight against COVID-19, the efforts to overcome the pandemic’s consequences and the confidence in tighter cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in the future.

In his message, Italian President Sergio Mattarella affirmed Vietnam is Italy's leading partner. He also believed that the two countries will seize opportunities and further expand cooperation to effectively deal with global challenges and contribute to the world’s peace and security.

On behalf of the Australian Government and the people, Governor-General of Australia David Hurley conveyed congratulations to the Vietnamese State’s leader on National Day. He said the friendship between the two countries will be developed strongly in a solid and extensive foundation of the Vietnam-Australia Strategic Partnership, towards the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2023.

King of Spain Felipe extended his best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity to the Vietnamese State and its people.

On the occasion, Governor General of Canada Mary May Simon sent a congratulatory message to the President of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Meanwhile, Speaker of the Senate of Canada George Furey and Speaker of the House of Commons Anthony Rota conveyed greetings to the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue. Canadian leaders spoke highly of the strong development in the relations between the two countries while expressing their hope that the two nations will consolidate their comprehensive partnership and close cooperation, in important regional and international issues.

US President Joe Biden noted that the two countries have made great strides based on mutual respect, trust and common interests, as well as deepening cooperation in all fields. He also reaffirmed the support from the US for a strong, independent and prosperous Vietnam.

King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander offered his best wishes for health and prosperity to the State and people of Vietnam.

On the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid congratulated President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended congratulations to his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh.

Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Prime Minister Luvsannamrain Oyun-Erdene conveyed congratulatory messages to their counterparts Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Pham Minh Chinh, respectively. Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia Gombojav Zandanshatar extended greetings to NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Panama Arif Alvi and Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, respectively, congratulated President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades sent a congratulatory letter to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Swedish King Carl Gustaf and President cum Foreign Minister of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis offered congratulatory messages to the Vietnamese State leader.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena of Sri Lanka also congratulated their Vietnamese counterparts Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Pham Minh Chinh, respectively.

Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) Louise Mushikiwabo sent a congratulatory letter to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

On the occasion, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a press release congratulating Vietnam's National Day. Mongolian Foreign Minister Batmunkhiin Battsetseg, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister M.U.M Ali Sabry, also extended greetings to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
