The event was held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Department (MARD) in collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture and CropLife Asia.

The forums aimed to update and exchange information on research trends, the development and integration of new technologies and creative solutions for a sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

MARD Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said Vietnam aims to become a transparent, responsible and sustainable food producer in the future.

To that end, Vietnam will transform its food system to make it greener, with lower emissions and greater sustainability, by promoting the adoption of science and technology innovations.

From a country facing food shortages, Vietnam has now become one of the major agricultural exporters of the world, thanks to a significant contribution of science and technology.

According to Nguyen Giang Thu, Deputy Director of the MARD’s Department of Science, Technology and Environment, growth in the agricultural sector in the coming period will need to rely on technology and innovation.

Therefore, it is necessary to increase financial resources in agricultural research, give priority to high-tech agriculture and enhance agricultural infrastructure.

In addition, measures are needed to promote research and technology transfer in agriculture, make public-private partnership more effective, and enhance the quality of human resources in agriculture.

Within the framework of the forum, the MARD’s Department of Science, Technology and Environment and CropLife Asia signed a cooperation agreement on the research, development and application of advanced technology for the 2023-2030 period.
